7 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN – DAY 4: Wisconsin Death trip

his year we at YRCS are ringing in the most wonderful day of the year by counting down with a new public domain horror movie every day leading up. Sometimes we’ll put a historically relevant pic, sometimes a short, but always tying in to spooky themes.

Film 4 comes from America’s heartland. This 1999 horror documentary follows a small, picturesque Wisconsin town from 1890 to 1900. The documentary draws from Black River Falls local newspaper clippings, exposing the dark underbelly of county.

Thanks to a creepy-ass narrator, a slough of dramatizations and some and a Ken Burns-style voice-over, Wisconsin Death trip proves that we do all, in fact, go a bit mad sometimes.

Fun fact: The original soundtrack features compositions by John Cale and DJ Shadow.
